As I mentioned in my A Little About Me, there is power in community and encouraging one another. I love the verse Hebrews 10:24, because we are called to spur on another towards love and good deeds. There is nothing more than I love to do than to shine light on other people and their strengths and talents. Let me tell you, these seven recipes that I will share are a family favorite in my household and a must try for you and your family. I would be doing a complete dishonor on these spectacular bakers if I did not share with you their tried and true recipes that taste downright delicious! These recipes are on repeat at my house!
So, please, review these seven made from scratch recipes (both snacks and baked goods) you must try when you are in the kitchen next!
The pictures provided in this post are from when I have baked these treats!
Baked Goods
Sourdough Bowl
I love Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone, she has taught me so much about sourdough. One of the main lessons I have taken away from her is that sourdough does not have to be complicated. It is actually very flexible with your schedule and easy to do!
This Beginner’s Sourdough Bowl bread (find recipe on Farmhouse on Boone, click here) is so simple. You mix all ingredients in the beginning and do a few stretches and folds and then let it ferment. It is a recipe that even a year later into sourdough making, I am still doing it. It is that simple and tasty. I mean look at this comparison from Aug ’24 to Sept ’25!
Same recipe, just tried and true to what works for me! Trust me, if your bread is not turning out the way you want it to, keep trying and making it, and find what makes it better for you. There are so many factors that play into baking your bread; sourdough starter, fermenting, oven temp, how you bake, etc. Do not give up!
Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls
As I said, I love all the recipes I have tried from the Farmhouse on Boone website! Cinnamon rolls are so expensive at the store with so many unnecessary ingredients added.
This recipe is so simple and it uses that discard that we all wonder what we will do with. I have made this recipe with a fairly active starter as well. It will have less of the intensity of the sourdough flavor but still a delicious and fluffy cinnamon roll.
When I bake these, we often do not put icing on our cinnamon rolls, but we do add something to this recipe that is a must for all those cozy vibes.. When mixing the filling, add 1 tsp of nutmeg and 1 tsp of cardamom. Mix super well to make sure the nutmeg and cardamom are fully incorporated. If not, you will get some cinnamon rolls that have a stronger presence of this flavor mix than the other cinnamon rolls. By adding these two seasonings, it enhances the flavor to a whole another level. I have tried adding the seasonings to the dough instead of the filling, but trust me, adding it to the filling is the best option.
Tortillas
This next recipe I did find on Facebook. Click here to watch the video. However, I have added the recipe below as well if you do not want to watch the video/scroll through comments to find the recipe. I also understand some people may not have Facebook or access to look at the video.
I have tried a few different tortillas recipes, but I truly believe by adding butter, it makes all the difference. Something about the extra fat and oil content in butter helps make this dough smooth to roll out all the while giving it a softer texture at the end. I love that you can have tortillas quick with the recipe if you are in a time crunch.
Recipe:

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Who does not love a good cookie for dessert? I do not know about you, but I have always loved a good oatmeal raisin cookie. I finally found this recipe (click here to view) and fell in love with it. She comments how it makes your house smell so incredible, and I can testify. Whenever I bake these cookies, they are gone almost instantaneously, hence why I do not have a photo of them haha!
When you are in the mood for soft cookies that have oatmeal and the depth of flavor of an oatmeal raisin cookie – do yourself a favor and remember this recipe and bake it! You will not regret it.
Butter Cookies
Again, why not bake cookies? My husband has always loved shortbread and butter cookies. I was set out to find a recipe that was simple but downright addictive. I borrowed a Martha Stewart baking cookbook from the library and found this recipe. I made it for the first time and have not looked elsewhere. This recipe is so simple to bake and tastes so soft and buttery!
I am terrible at piping, so I gave up after a stupid amount of times trying to pipe these cookies and make them into bars, cut-outs, or even tiny little squares for the littles’! This cookie dough is so versatile and can be formed in whatever you desire – all the more reason to love this recipe! Mother’s Day 2025, I even made this recipe and did heart cut-outs and they turned out perfectly! Such a fun way to get the children involved. Please ignore the sad photo I captured this last time, it does not do justice to relay how yummy these actually taste. An updated photo is soon to come!
Snacks
Granola Bars
If you are looking for an easy granola bar recipe that can be a base for your wild adventures of add-ins for a granola bar, look no more than here! This recipe is so simple but can truly be a base for however you like your granola bar. The picture I captured of this recipe is when I added a little of organic cocoa powder and chocolate chips on top to make it a double chocolate granola bar and it did not disappoint!
Be wild, be creative, the options are endless. Omit the chocolate chips if needed, but truly this recipe has nutritious ingredients from flax seed, to honey, to oats! A must try for an easy, wholesome snack for you and your children to enjoy.
Sourdough Crackers
Lastly, but not least.. Sourdough Crackers, more like sourdough saltine crackers. This recipe is simple as it gets and the taste does not show it. It uses a lot of sourdough starter and is a delightful cracker base for any topping. We eat these plain, with cubed cheddar cheese, with peanut butter, etc. I personally do one thing differently to this recipe. I divide the dough into two after allowing it to rest in the fridge and then roll it out super thin to make crunchier crackers. This will take two sheet pans. I turn the sheet pans around halfway through baking to ensure it is baked evenly. My husband really likes the extra crispiness this gives the crackers. It is not necessary but oh so tasty!
And that is a wrap for all seven recipes that I think you should definitely try the next time you are in the kitchen! None of these recipes will be a waste of your time, I truly think they are all so worth it!
If you did try one of these recipes, please make sure to leave a review on their website. Then, comment below which one you tried. I will review all the comments and share the love for each recipe!
See you next time in the kitchen!
